Legal strategy for founders, athletes, and nonprofits building something bigger than business.
How I Work
I don’t just step in when something goes wrong—I help you think through decisions before they become problems.
With experience in both litigation and in-house leadership, I approach legal issues with a practical, business-minded perspective. That means focusing not just on what’s legally correct, but what actually works for you.
My goal is simple: give you clear, thoughtful guidance so you can move forward with confidence.

Meet Tracy L. Schimelfenig
I’m a business and sports attorney with 20 years of experience, combining litigation, in-house counsel, and transactional work.
Before becoming an attorney, I was a college athlete—an experience that continues to shape how I work with clients in the sports space today. I understand firsthand the unique opportunities and challenges athletes face when building something beyond the game.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked closely with organizations at both strategic and operational levels, including serving as a Chief Legal Officer & Compliance Officer for a nonprofit organization in California. That experience allows me to approach legal issues not just from a technical standpoint, but from a business and leadership perspective.
Today, I focus on helping founders, athletes and mission-driven organizations structure, protect, and grow what they’re building. Whether acting as outside counsel on a specific matter or serving as fractional general counsel, my goal is to provide practical, thoughtful guidance that supports long-term success.
“Tracy helped me start my nonprofit and provided exceptional service guiding me every step of the way.”
